About David

I don't own my own business. I am a Teacher in NY who resides in PA & is looking to tutor students between 4th & 8th grade. Currently certified in NYS in Special education & middle school. I possess a dual Master's in education & special education.

I started teaching while pursuing a degree in education.

I have 7 years of relevant experience teaching and servicing diverse student populations with the NYC Department of Education. Moreover, I possess a dual Master's degree in Special Education and Elementary Education along with multiple Professional Development certificates that have improved my craft as a pedagogue in the contents of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is taking an inventory of their interests and how they learn best. Next, a baseline assessment will be administered to guage what skills and previous knowledge the student possesses. After this, rigorous instruction will be provided targeting the student's needs. Lastly, a summative assessment will be administered to measure student progress and growth.

I have experience working with diverse student populations (SPED & General Education) creating flexible heterogeneous groups to meet the needs of all of my students.

The student should hire a teacher who will celebrate what they will bring to the classroom as a learner, who will value their voice and provide them with opportunities to advocate for themselves while continuously encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, and who will challenge them with rigorous and engaging lessons.

I am particularly proud of participating in a school sanctioned drive to support the residents of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated the island.
