About Natalie

I have run my own tutoring gig on the side for about 4 years. I work with whatever your child brings to the table, plus I will bring bonus activities to help your child understand things they have a more difficult time with.

My degree is in Education from the University of Toledo. I have a focus in middle school, but have been tutoring high school students for 5 years. Math and history are my specialties. But middle grades science and english are easily accomplished!

This year, with COVID bringing home so many students instead of putting them in schools, many parents are aware their child may not get the extra attention their student needs when remotely learning. I offer in person, or remote one-on-one sessions that can give your child the extra attention they need to keep them from falling behind!

I have always enjoyed helping children and learning/teaching math. I found a job that would get me both! The joy on a student's face when they finally understand a topic they have been struggling with is a reminder of why I get up and do this everyday!

I have always had a love for learning and a love for math. I wanted to take a career that could help students do both of the things I love and hopefully find some joy in it as well. Yes, I am the type of teacher to make cheesy math jokes now, who knew! I also deeply care about children and their well being. So, there was no better career path for me than teaching!

I recieved my education degree from the Universoty of Toledo. I started tutoring when I was still a student. I have since tutored because I find the one-on-one is good practice for both my skills, and the students.

About the lesson

For a newcomer, I typically ask them ahead of time what they are working on in class. I will bring activities based on that chapter. I like to make it like and fun. More game based to make learning easier and less stressful!

I will get off task and talk about other things, like talk about the school, my students, their teachers, etc. because it gives students a break in the work and makes them feel more comfortable working with me.

I have worked with students who struggle a lot in the classroom. Usually due to attention issues because they need the extra attention and they need someone to tell them to stay focused. I do work on a system that helps the students focus better as well.

Teachers teach more than just math skills, we teach life skills!

Details

I charge $20/hr. I typically do one hour of tutoring at a time because kids tend to lose focus after they have been in school and then tutor all day. But two hours at a time is possible! I also typically see students twice a week so they do not get too far behind.

With remote learning being a very viable option this year, students may be spending less instructional time with their teacher this year, opening up a window for a larger tutoring time. Times and dates can be discussed based on each student's needs!
