About Alex

Hello y'all! My name is Alex Clark, and I am fresh on the private tutoring scene. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University in December 2020 with a Bachelor of Science after double-majoring in Mathematics and Physics. I spent the final two years of my undergraduate degree as a teaching assistant for a variety of physics labs at SHSU.

I know that I learn best via relevant examples, and so that is how I like to teach. I approach teaching with a plethora of examples and fluid style to adapt to the learning style of the student. I am open to tutoring middle and high school level math and physics as well as introductory college math and physics. I am especially apt in precalculus, calculus, algebra, statistics, and Newtonian physics. Feel free to contact me and inquire about any questions you have.

About the lesson

At the end of the day, tutoring is for the student! That's why I firmly believe the tutor should try to ammend their teaching style to what best suits their student. It is important to assess what exactly the individual needs, and proceed from an initial evaluation.

I have worked with a variety of college-level students in my experience as a teaching assistant, but I primarily have worked in group settings with my students.

My advice would be to find someone you can relate to. Consider any of the teachers you've had in the past that you didn't mesh with; more than likely, you didnt learn as much in their class. Also, don't be afraid to admit what you don't know.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think is important for the student to fully assess your strengths and weaknesses. It is easy to say, "I don't know anything," but that is rarely ever the case. Realize what you know, and then discuss what you don't know with a teacher or tutor.

I am open to in-person tutoring, as well as remote sessions, depending on the needs of the individual. Therefore, I have different pricing for each:

Remote: $35/hr

In-Person: $50/hr
