Gather information on if they are having trouble with a particular topic or an entire subject. Find out what their expectations are as far as how many sessions they might need. Inquire about the logistic things such as whether they prefer to drive to me, have me drive to them, meet at a designated place such as a library, or do everything online. Ask them about their current learning style and habits so I can adapt to their particular case. Have a consultation phone call or meeting with them free of charge to find out this information and more, then quote them. Once a price is agreed I expect to be kept up to date with their curriculum or syllabus so I can do prep work prior to the actual session to decrease the amount of time being wasted.

Lesson or session prices vary based off of a variety of factors. Travel time, Prep/post time needed, subject, continuous sessions vs. one or two meetings necessary, if student has materials/supplies, number of jobs I've done in a subject before (lower rates for subjects I'm less experienced in teaching), if the customer agrees to leave feedback, discounts for veterans, and low income families or students (proof required).
