About Alyssa

My name is Alyssa Grant and I'm currently a third year teacher for Reading & Language arts at the middle school level. I hold a Bachelor’s in Education from Texas A&M and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. My certifications include Middle Grades 4-8 English Language Arts & Reading and Social Studies, PPR, and ESL Supplemental. My teaching style incorporates a group method and personal model that guides and directs students towards “hands-on” learning, goal setting, and ensuring a learner feels confident and has the tools to help them be successful in the present and the future. As part of my current job, I focus in supporting and scaffolding learning in order to enable a learner's success in the subject they are trying to grow in. Overall, my goal is to strengthen the relationship with my learners, enable lifelong learning, and support learners to become confident in the subject they once seemed help for.

I am certified to teach the following: ELAR & Social Studies in Grades 4-8

- English Phonics, Fluency, Reading, Writing, Language, - Literature, and Comprehension

- ELAR sections of MAP and STAAR

- LDs & IDDs: Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and Autism

- Organization, Studying, and Executive Functioning skills
