About Keith

We are trained and working musicians with a background in public education. I've produced international jazz festival at Quinnipiac University. We teach to the goal of playing with others and performing- even if its open mics...

I started teaching music when I needed players to play my songs and when I happened to know a bit more than the person I was jamming with...From there I eventually got a music degree and at times taught lessons but also taught other subjects in a public school system...

Classically trained guitarist in conjunction with Quinnipiac University with degrees also in communications, English, Music Performance, & education, I was the director of The Quinnipiac International Jazz Festival several years, writing contracts and riders etc...I was heavily involved at WYBC Jazz radio at Yale University for many years...I've retired from public education to devote myself to music: technique, performance and working with others writing, arranging pop, obscure and original music...I've always been involved in getting out profesionally and open mics or whatever... So I've got plenty of real experience and success to pass along...

Lessons begin with skill check from previous week; followed by further development of skill and related skills based on improvement from previous week...economy of motion ergonomic element...performance & gig acquisition coaching...sound production...promotion...

I've really have taught most every kind of student you can teach: infants to seniors, disabled, taught in Cali Colombia and Seoul Korea, Norwalk Ct, other places in Connecticut too...

Play every day even if it is just 5 mins. The more you play the better you get quicker. It's that simple. Getting gigs is a matter of persistance and networking. Leave plenty of time for sound checks before any performance.
