About Maria

Hello! My name is Maria and I have loved music my entire life. I've grown up in a musical family and been exposed to it from an early, starting classical piano lessons at the age of 5 and teaching myself how to play guitar and ukulele at the age of 10. I have also been singing since I was very young and currently work as a Choral Scholar at Church Street United Methodist Church as well as co-leading their Kinder Choir. I won several statewide classical piano competitions in elementary and middle school and made my concert debut at the age of 10, playing Rowley's Miniature Concerto with the Maryville Symphony Orchestra. For the past two years, I have acted as the student accompanist for my high school choirs, accompanying the Advanced Women's, Men's, and Advanced Mixed Ensembles at seasonal concerts as well as the local JB Lyle Festival. I love teaching and sharing my love for music by providing personalized lessons that support the student in whatever ways they need. Please do not hesitate to contact me regarding future lessons!

I have taken classical piano lessons using the Suzuki method for 13 years and taught myself to play ukulele and guitar for the past 8 years.

About the lesson

During the first lesson, I typically try to guage the student's knowledge base as well as learn how they best learn. In each subsequent lesson, we then work to build upon their prior knowledge in ways that are suited for the student.

I have worked with very young students from 3 years old to high school aged students.

I would advise students to look for someone who is positive and encouraging while still holding their students accountable for their practice habits. I would also advise students to look for a teacher who can adapt their teaching methods to your own needs.

The first 15-minute consulation lesson is free. From there, 30-minute lessons are $15, 45-minute lessons are $23, and 60-minute lessons are $30.
