It all started back in high school. I was a member of the National Math Honor Society and was asked by several math teachers if I would be interested in tutoring students in Geometry. It was a challenge I was honored to be considered for. Many of my students were able to develop their geometry skills and successfully passed their courses. This lead to me becoming an assistant for a geometry teacher, where I was able to obtain hands-on experience with managing the classroom, grading assignments, creating tests and answer keys, and most importantly, develop an understanding of how to approach each student's academic needs. I continued to be an assistant until I graduated, and transition to working for Jacksonville University as a student tutor, where I currently reside and thrive.

Though I am still currently a student, I have graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts with an arts seal for vocal studies, and as a recurring student on the dean's list. During my time here, I was accepted into the 2 highest choirs, competing in state competitions of which we received several superior ratings. I also served as the President of Tutoring for the National Honors Society, in order to develop my skills as a leader in the tutoring process. As a full-time college student, I have further developed my skills at Jacksonville University, tutoring over 5 different areas of studies. I have received high recognition from students, staff, and team members, and have continued to maintain a 4.0 GPA.

About the lesson

We will usually establish what exactly the student will need help with. Everyone has a different starting ground. The sooner we are able to come to an understanding of what we are experienced in and what still needs improvement, the sooner growth and learning can begin!

Generally, in my tutoring career, most students have been in the young adult age bracket. However, I have also tutored adults returning to college to pursue their ideal careers, as well as children at the elementary level. I have worked with several students who require certain accommodations, as well as international students who feel most comfortable speaking in their native language of Spanish. In short, many types of students, and all are welcomed.

How comfortable you can be with your teacher is just as important as the credentials they have.

Recently, I was able to meet up with my former Music Teacher and relay to her how far I've come since we last met.
