About Joseph
My lessons focus on getting you playing the songs you want to play as quickly as possible. Theory is important, but we will learn that as we go, rather than getting bogged down in the math of music. The important thing is getting you where you want to be on the instrument in as little time as we can.
I love learning how each individual student communicates and meeting them wherever they are at. I pride myself on being able to cater the lesson to the needs of the student.
I work and teach as a resident director at The Annoyance Theater in Chicago, and began teaching because I would be approached by actors and comedians who wish to integrate music into their material. So in addition to simply learning how to play the instrument, we can also learn how to develop material, as well as how to create songs from either a melodic or a lyrical starting point.
More, even, than learning an instrument or a new skill, these lessons will help guide the student towards achieving their own artistic vision.
