About Kayla
Although I am young, I am an experienced teacher with over 3 years of on the job experience. I've taught children from as young as 3 to as old as 18. Furthermore, I am experienced in many facets such a children that are behind in school, advanced learners, children with learning difficulties, and also language barriers.
I love working with children. I come from a long line of teachers in my family so pedagogy is no stranger to me. I feel as though children are the new minds that will change the world! Being able to inspire and help mold those minds is something that is fulfilling and fun as well!
I began teaching because I have always loved passing my knowledge onto others. My family lineage contains a long list of educators, so it seemed only right that I would go into this field. I also love children. I believe that I can learn from them as much as they can learn from me.
As mention before, I have taught students of all ages for over 3 years. I also currently am attending a top 20 school called Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Here, I also tutor my peers on various subjects.

The most important aspect of working with a new student is ensuring that they are comfortable with their tutor or teacher. Students must feel safe to make mistakes and ask question as well as express confusion or discomfort. Furthermore it is necessary to gauge not just what the student needs but how they learn. Paying attention to key details such as attention span, anxiety levels, and enthusiasm can make or break and student/teacher relationship.
I have worked with all kinds of students. I have worked with ages ranging from three years old to eighteen years old. I have also worked with students who don't speak English natively, who have learning difficulties, and advanced learners as well.
When searching for a teacher in my areas of expertise, which include science, French, and government, ensure that, in some way, this tutor is incorporating these aspects into their daily lives. For example, I am pre-medicine in school and I am minoring in French language and cultural studies. I currently take political science classes every semester to ensure that I am an active citizen. These aspects are important because you need a teacher who is "fresh" and ready to answer any question that you may have.
A recent event in which I am fond of is the recent return of the astronauts from the SpaceX mission. I believe that space exploration is so interesting and important because it demonstrates that there is something out there that is much bigger than ourselves. Furthermore, missions such as those pose so many risks and dangers, that one can only be happy when they return home safely.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should always have a few questions ready for their tutor when discussing their needs. Ensure that your tutor is willing to teach in a way that you are desiring to learn. So, if you like kahoot and practice quizzes, but your tutor only wants you to write essays and watch videos, then they will not be the fit for you and your learning style. More importantly, ensure that your tutor has refreshed their knowledge of the topic within the past 5 months because it is easy to forget when you aren't up to date.
