About Kathryn

Our mission at College Prep Tutoring is to help you achieve your dream of getting into the best college or university you possibly can. We will help you prepare for your standardized tests and will be happy to assist you in planning, writing, and polishing your applications.

The founder of College Prep Tutoring, Kathryn Adelstein, has been preparing students for standardized tests since 1996. Test-taking is a skill that can be taught and scores can improve dramatically through coaching and supervised practice.

Kathryn began her success with Kaplan Test Prep. After scoring above the 95th percentile in all sections of the GRE (math, verbal, analytical), she began teaching for Kaplan. She soon became one of the most sought-after instructors for private tutoring in the state of New York. Now that she has returned to San Diego, she is looking forward to helping you get into a top university or college.

At College Prep Tutoring, we prefer to work individually with students. A one-to-one program enables students to focus on building their strengths and overcoming their weaknesses. Each student will have his or her own customized strategies for test preparation and Test Day.

A San Diego native, Kathryn attended The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, CA. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and her graduate degree in history at the University of Wisconsin.

Kathryn invites her top-scoring students to become Associate Tutors with College Prep Tutoring to work with students who are looking for tutoring for a particular subject in school. All Associate Tutors have spent at least 20 hours in training with Kathryn, so they are able to apply her teaching methods in order to help their students gain a greater understanding of the subject matter that has been troubling them in school.

About the lesson

Finance lessons offered by Kathryn are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in San Diego. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
