About Julia
I began tutoring in 2009 at a summer school in Schrewsbury, MA and realized I had discovered one of my passions.
Sitting side by side with a child, helping them read and write sentences, correcting spelling and grammar, I felt my purpose and knew this was going to be part of my life path.
Since then I have worked in schools, after school programs, summer sessions and also as a piano teacher. I truly love focusing one-on-one with students to help them enjoy the learning process and find success in their studies.
I am also an artist and musician and recieved my BFA from Green Mountain College in 2011.

In the summer of 2009 I worked as a teacher's aid for an ESL summer school. I fell in love with the children and the one-on-one tutoring sessions.
It felt absolutely wonderful to enrich young lives through learning.

We begin by checking in with what the student is currently learning in school, looking through recent assignments and grades. I'll also ask what the student feels their strengths and weakness are.
I make sure the student knows I'm there to help them succeed and feel successful, not to reprimand them for every little mistake.
From there I will determine where to begin and we'll get started!
I have experience with ages 5-17 and very much enjoy all ages for different reasons.
I have worked with students in the subjects of english, ESL, music and art.
Make sure you find someone you feel comfortable with as far as asking questions and making mistakes. Someone who you like as a person as well as a teacher! This will help you want to learn and do better.
While sitting side by side with Oliver at the piano, we were doing note-naming flash cards and he was beginning to understand the connection between the little dots on lines and the actual piano keyboard. It was a great moment we shared.

Julia was great! Our daughter Emma took to her immediately and we saw improvements in Emma's grades surprisingly quickly. We think this had a lot to do with the fact that Emma was excited to spend her tutoring time with Julia and wanted to impress her.
We really liked working with Julia because she was patient and kind. She helped Isaac with his english homework and we saw great results!
