About Kiley

I have been tutoring elementary through high school students in various subjects at my school for almost two years. Some of the subjects that I have tutored in are elementary and middle school math and english, high school physical science, biology, chemistry, English, and algebra 1. I decided that I wanted to venture into the online area of tutoring as a way to make more money and save money for college. I am a 4.0 student in high school and I have taken 10 dual enrollment courses so far and will be spending my entire senior year on college campuses. I am going to be going into nursing when I graduate. I love science, but I also have an interest in all subjects including math and English.

I enjoy giving back to the people who have made my life possible. I love helping those who may need a little extra help achieving their goals. I know that I've had to ask for help plenty of times, and I want to make it as easy as it can be for others. I want to minimize the amount that people worry about asking to be tutored due to peer pressure and unrealistic standards.

I got started tutoring when a parent asked me to tutor their young daughter who was new to the school. I have a reputation for doing well in school, which is why the parent asked me to tutor their daughter. Since then I have tutored over 15 different students ranging from first to 12th grade.

I currently have not gone to college, but all of the classes that I am comfortable tutoring in I have taken in highschool and have made an A in. I currently have a 4.0 gpa, but I will not be tutoring in classes that I am not personally comfortable with my knowledge in, even if I did well while taking the class myself. I believe that it is very important for me to have a thorough understanding of a subject before I try to teach it.

About the lesson

I enjoy having one session in the beginning where we get to know each other. I like to know my student's interests and goals so that I can better personalize our curriculum. I also like to find out about my student's current study habits and current schedule that way we can create a study plan perfect for them!

I have worked with students of all levels of learning and all grades. I have worked with students who were multiple years behind their grade level, as well as students who weren't struggling with the material as much as they struggled with motivation and studying at home.

1. How do you personally study? What type of study materials do you use?

2. How have you overcome a struggle with learning?

3. Have you ever taught a student who is in my current area of learning?

Details

For my in-person lessons that I do at my school I charge $15 an hour. I try to be very flexible with pricing so that no one gets left out due to financial reasons. If you are comfortable paying more than $15 an hour, I will obviously accept that. With that being said, if you are in a bind financially, then please message me and we can work something out.
