About Matt

After teaching in an Intensive English Program for six years and six more years teaching composition in a university and various colleges as an Adjunct Professor, I have every confidence I can help you become more fluent in English. Are you struggling with the TOEFL or IELTS exams? I have worked for ETS as a TOEFL iBT Speaking Rater for 11 years. Need someone to check your paper for errors or structural problems? You need someone who has graded hundreds of essays and has experience working in a university writing lab.

Currently, I have an MA in TESOL and a BA in English. I have boosted the TOEFL scores of some of my students by 45 points or more. My students in the Intensive English Program made huge gains in their reading and writing skills every semester.

My goal is to instill you with the confidence to compete with native speakers. So international students if you're looking for some help with your English skills, look no further!

More than anything else, I like to see my students progress and achieve their goals so that they can move forward in life.

When I was in the US Navy I experienced travel to many countries in SoutWest Asia that influenced me to try teaching in South Korea for two years. I acquired degrees, skills, and experience ever since that time.

Currently, I have been teaching two and a half years for VIPKID with almost four thousand online classes to my credit from teaching Chinese children and teenagers.

Six years teaching in an Intensive English Program.

Six years teaching basic and andvanced composition skills to native speakers in universities and colleges.

Semester of experience working in a university writing lab.

Eleven years working as a TOEFL iBT Speaking Rater for ETS.

US Naval Veteran of the "No Fly Zone."

About the lesson

All potential students get a free consultation, assessment test, and follow up appointment to discuss areas that might need stengthening. I personalize the lessons according to your needs and develop an individualized plan. All of my lessons and meetings are done through zoom video services.

I have worked with international students as adults in private lessons overseas, in higher education, and currently online. My experience teaching native speakers has been strictly in a university or college setting.

Look for well-educated teacher with experience and great strategies to help you succeed.

I am always found of teaching my students and seeing them progress towards their goals, recently and in past lessons.

Standard fee is $50/hr.

Group speaking lessons of 5 - 10 people is $20 per person/per lesson.
