About Hannah

As an honors college student myself, I understand the pressure of writing in various subjects. My job is to help students improve their writing while simoultainously improving their ability to stand out to their teachers with critical thinking and analysis in their writing. I am familiar with various forms of writing material, from Shakespearean Literature to New Age Poetry and research-based professional writing.

My goals are entirely student-focused. My main goal is to create a relationship with students that allows them feel welcome to share their creative abilities and technical thinking. In this relationship, students will be comfortable to analize their own writing and learn how best to improve it. These experiences should be enjoyable, and both the student and I, the tutor, will work toward the same goal established together. The enjoyment is in the deep-dive of writing material, as well as the attainment of the explicit goals of the student.

I am a 4th year Honors student at Washington State University who is close to completing two degrees in Strategic Communication (BA) and English Teaching (BA + certification). My cumulative GPA as of Fall 2021 is a 3.6.

About the lesson

My initial process involves assesing a student's specific needs in the realm of writing and composition by first seeing samples of that student's work. Helping students understand and utilize their own style in their writing while focusing on professional, clean composition and rhetoric is key to writing development.

It is YOUR voice and opinions that explain your ideas in your writing! Sometimes we just need help in the articulation of our ideas.

Details

My hourly price varies from $14 to $19 an hour, depending on the students specific needs. My price is on the lower end as I am still in the process of receiving both my degree in English Teaching as well as Strategic Communication, and am looking to gain experience working with students. I charge less for students who show initial foundational skills (syntax, grammar, organization, flow) in their writing, and more for students who need an extra push when it comes to those foundational skills, because they require more tangible effort to asses and build upon.
