About Olivia

Hello! Welcome to my profile, future student :) My areas of tutoring expertise are:

- Literature Analysis

- Grammar and syntax

- Composition

- ACT/SAT English/Writing/Reading Prep

- General K-12 English

I am passionate about your success in academic writing and analytical reading! I am currently an honors student at Arizona State University pursuing a major in English (poetry) and a minor in Literature. I recieved a 36 (perfect score) on the ACT reading section and a 34 on the English section. My goal is to eventually get my Ph.D and teach English at a university, as well as become a published poet. Our tutoring sessions will be fun, I promise! I am a very unintimidating person. When I'm not writing poetry, reading classic literature (Animal Farm is my favorite and Little Women got me into classics!), or snuggling Mozart (my dog), I'm at the art museum or poking around at a bookstore.

I look forward to getting to know you! The most important part of any tutoring relationship is just that- the relationship between teacher and student. My goal is for you to walk away from each session empowered, with the knowledge that you are capable of what you put your mind to!

In June, I will complete an internship with GoBelieve Culture, an educational company located in Phillidelphia. You are welcome to view the services provided to the lower-income and under-resourced Philly students we serve at this website: (concealed information) I'm proud to have interned with this company; the experience I gained with them gave me the confidence that I was an effective and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for helping students.

About the lesson

During our first meeting, I'll take about 5-10 minutes to get to know you. The relationship is the most important part of a tutor-student partnership, and a strong relationship is a good indicator of success. I'll ask you a few questions about yourself. You're welcome to ask me rapid fire questions about everything from my most streamed Spotify artist to my least favorite type of coffee! Then we'll get started on the meat of our session- you'll tell me about your weaknesses and your strengths in English and writing. We'll figure out a gameplan and timetable to get you to success, whether that is a long-term "I need to get an A in English this year!" relationship, or a short-term "My essay is due in 12 hours and I'm stuck!" relationship!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be specific! We know how to best help you if you know how you best need helped. What are you having trouble with this week? Come prepared, or better yet, let us know ahead of time so we can be prepared too. If I know you need help writing an analytical essay on the juxtoposition of past and present found within two stageplays, I will come prepared with information to better serve you!
