About Nancy

Hello, I'm Nancy. I am a commercial and stock photographer as well as an author with extensive experience as an executive assistant and teacher. I have a BA in English with a minor in Sociology and a love of helping people to understand and achieve their goals. I have taught all ages from elementary classrooms to adults on topics ranging from general education to Microsoft Office. When I am not creating images, writing, or teaching, I can be found making any number of crafts or spending time with my husband and children, who we affectionately refer to as the Spawn.

I started teaching in high school when I was asked to take over the 4-year-old Sunday School class. It didn't occur to me at the time that I wanted to teach for a career so I ended up running businesses and being an executive assistant for a number of years. Looking back on it, I was always the one teaching the rest of the staff how the various programs worked.

I have a BA in English with a minor in Sociology. I am currently in Graduate School for my MFA in English and Creative Writing.

I have also attended multiple photography workshops since 2003, and have extensive experience using Microsoft Office.

I have extensive experience with teaching. 6 years of teaching a general elementary curriculum, 4 years of teaching Sunday School (ages 3-8), 2 years of teaching karate (ages 3-12), 2 years of teaching genealogy (adults), 3 years training staff on Microsoft Office.

About the lesson

I like to discuss the student's goals and needs in the first meeting to determine the best way to help them achieve success. We will then create a plan to reach their goal so that both the student and the tutor will know what to expect.

I have worked with all ages from 3-year-olds to 80-year-olds. Some were special needs students, others were not.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should have an idea of what their goal is and be able to communicate it with the tutor. The tutor is not a mind reader and will not be able to help if the student doesn't know what they need.
