About Marla
My name is Marla Nowitz and I have been a credentialed teacher for over 25 years. My specialties are all subjects K-8. I also teach middle and high school English, History, and writing, which is my passion and forte! I have helped students prepare for SATs and the ACTs, as well as helping them writing their entry essays for colleges. I am also bilingual in Spanish and help kids and adults in this language. What makes me stand out is that I am just a big kid at heart and very wacky which helps me related to all kids and adults! I am also certified in Linda Mood Bell where I help kids with processing issues in both reading and writing. I have many references available. I created the first grade program at the Brentwood School and then became a Curriculum Director for a private Westside Day School. I am highly innovative and teach in very unique ways. I am also very musical and create songs to help kids internalize some fun things with curriculum!
I just love working with kids and finding creative ways to relate to my students! I have fun with teaching and truly was born with this passion!
I have my BA in Sociology from UC Davis and my teaching credential is from CSUN. I am also trained in Linda Mood Belle which is a program that helps kids with processing issues and other learning differences. I am also bilingual in Spanish so I help middle and high school students in this area as well as adults who wish to learn Spanish.
