About Josie

Hi! I am a 2020 high school graduate looking to help out as many kids as possible. I have been tutoring for about three years now and I absolutely love it! With COVID-19 this past year, I understand that your child may not have received the best education they could have this past school year, but I can help them prepare for this coming year. Even though I am attending the University of Washington this year, I will still be available to tutor every week. And of course, if you are not comfortable with your child meeting in person for sessions, I am open to tutoring online as well, just let me know!

Fun facts about me: I am a straight A student and love music, reading, the outdoors, and both cooking and baking (even though I have celiac disease). My current goal is to study psychology at the University of Washington.

My schedule is pretty open and always up for discussion, as well as payment. I am a believer that your child's needs come first!

I've finished high school, so I can cover pretty much all core subjects. Core subjects include English, history, sciences like biology and physical science, and math up to Algebra II. I've also worked with middle school and elementary school students before, as I've volunteered at an elementary school before.

About the lesson

I like to meet with a student for a session where we just get to know each other a little bit. It's a pretty short one, just half an hour or so, and parents are welcome to stay too! After that, at the next session, we hop right into it. I assess the student's goals, take a look at their gradebook, and ask the student how they would like to proceed. It's all about the students and how they learn best!

Make sure they're looking out for YOUR interests! YOU are the student and it's YOUR education. Make sure they listen to what you have to say and really focus on what you need.

Details

Payments are according to the family and what they can afford! I know a typical tutor charges $30-$40 an hour. My range has been from $15-$60 per hour, but most have stuck to $20 an hour.
