About Mason

I am a highly capable teacher with over five years of expereince and an emphasis on individualized learning. I worked for four years as an academic tutor in Los Angeles, as well as one year as a full-time special education teacher with Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. I can teach basic reading/writing, or subjects including history, politics, English Literature, Philosophy, and test prep. With me, you will always get an individual learning approach best suited to your needs.

I love teaching because, for me, nothing is more satisfying than watching my students meet their goals. Whether that means mastery of a particular subejct, acing their next test, or general advancement of study skills, I get great pride out of helping students achieve their full potential. Because of my experience, I am able to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to each student's unique needs.

I began teaching during my freshman year of college, working with fellow college students on their writing and research skills. This sparked my passion for education, and led to me pursuing jobs as a high school academic tutor and special education teacher.

I have a bachelor's degree (cum laude) in Diplomacy and World Affairs. Additionally, I have more than five years of experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and educational needs.

About the lesson

My teaching process starts with evaluation. For me, this means assessing where each student is at, their individual needs, and any situational particulars. From there, I am able to set up a customized learning plan, focusing on the areas where each student needs the most help. This can mean anything from centering lessons on the basics of phonemic awareness and grammar rules, to applying those skills to class materials and beyond.

I have worked with students from nearly every background imaginable. This includes diverse student populations from numerous backgrounds, low income and ELA students, and students with learning challenges such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Details

For single students, I charge a flat rate of $35 per hour. For each additonal student in the lesson, I charge an extra $20 (up to 5 students). This makes pricing simple and affordable for any of my clients.
