About Alice

I have been mentoring and tutoring children since the beginning of my highschool career. I am now a freshman at the University of Southern California. I gained early experience in tutoring when assisting my younger siblings with their homework;my siblings are of ages eight and eleven. My tutoring service revolves around the student's individual needs. I have been successful in helping students catch up in areas where they have fallen behind. I have also supported students in extra tutoring and practice for subjects they're currently studying as well as preparing them for higher learning.

The most fulfilling part about being a tutor is seeing growth in your students. That includes both their academic growth and confidence in learning. My favorite phrase is "ohhh that's how you do it," along with a big smile. That is the sound of progress, understanding, and success.

I first started teaching the summer of 2016. I began with teaching and turtoring my siblings and cousins during summertime, I then extended my services to my neighbors and peers at school. I have recently aided my sister, a rising 7th grade student, in getting accepted to a 6 year college preparatory program partnered with the University of Southern California.

I have experience in tutoring children in grades K-12. I have always been a mentor to other students, including juniors and rising seniors in highschool that are interested in heading toward a college pathway.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, my first step includes performing general placement tests in different subjects of their grade level. Thus, allowing me to analyze what areas the student needs extra practice in. Following the placement tests and scores is the creation of an individual study plan for my student. Next, is ensuring that the student is keeping up with their class learning, so that they do not fall behind in their studies while strengthing other areas that they need to work on.

I have worked with students that are grades below their initiated grade level as well as students that just need extra support to continue with their academic sucess.
