About Mia

I am a Junior at Georgetown University, majoring in Justice and Peace Studies and minoring in Journalism and Psychology. My strengths are in analysis and communication.

I am promarily looking to come alongside students to give them tools for better writing, but am also happy to do more general tutoring, come up with appropriate lesson plans, etc. I love kids and am looking forward to engaging with them during this pandemic!! We can make it fun togehter :)

I am currently on the board of College Next Door, a peer to peer mentorship organization that pairs freshmen from Georgetown University with freshmen at a local D.C. highschool. These mentor relationships are sustained until both individuals graduate, to support highschoolers personally and academically.

In high school I taught East Arican Model United Nations to a class of about 20 students. I created lesson plans, lectured, graded papers, and oversaw the selection process.

I have extensive tutoring and babysitting experience in Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United States.

About the lesson

Every student has their own needs and learning styles. Before we can get down to work, I think it is important to get to know the student. I like to spend the first session talking about their interests, what they are involved in, and what they could use help with moving forward. Once we connect we can move forward on the same team to ahieve their learning goals.

Details

My lessons are priced hourly, starting at $35 per hour for overseeing preexisting assignements of lesson plans. The more structuring needed for the tutee, the higher the price, up to $50 per hour.
