About Victoria

What I love about tutoring is my ability to enrich children's lives by teaching and practicing the skills needed to become successful readers. Reading is more than just saying the words on a page. I can take them to the next level of comprehension and understanding. It's amazing to see a good reader turn into a great one. Let me help your child become a great reader!

My favorite part of tutoring is what I call the "A-Ha" moment. When the student reaches a level of understanding that will enhance their reading ability. It brings me great joy to see a student overcome a hurdle and continue building their confidence. I am excited to be a part of their reading journey!

Ever since I started teaching lessons for Vacation Bible School at the age of 13, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Since that age, every job has involved me working and teaching children in some aspect, be it at church, summer camp, or the classroom. I enjoy teaching. It is an underpaid, underappreciated profession, but I wouldn't choose any other career.

I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and a masters degree in reading intervention. I am currently working on my special education certification. In addition to my degrees, this is my second year providing reading intervention services for students in grades K-3 at an elementary school located in Felton, DE.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, the first thing I like to do is an assessment to determine their skill level and interests. I also spend some time getting to know the student and their family, building a rapport and mutual respect for one another. I also work with the family to put a plan into place for the student by discussing concerns and goals.

I have worked with students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Experience includes students with special needs, students in regular education, students with behavioral concerns, etc. I have also worked with students of all backgrounds and ethnicities.

Research the tutors on this site and choose the one that you feel the most comfortable with. Find a teacher that you and your family believe will get you where you need to be, even if that teacher isn't me.

As of December 1, 2020, I graduated from Concordia University - Nebraska with my Master's degree!
