About April

🌟 Hi! I’m April, and I support high school seniors and college-age students as they prepare for and adjust to college life.

I help with organization, study skills, and building confidence in academic environments. My goal is to create a calm, supportive space where students can stay on track and feel successful.

I started working in education through classroom support roles and quickly found that I enjoyed helping students stay organized and confident in their learning. Over time, I developed a focus on supporting students one-on-one, especially with study skills and academic structure.

I currently hold an Associate’s degree in Special Education, along with additional coursework in secondary education and general studies. I also have several years of experience supporting students in academic settings.

My background includes work as a teaching assistant, substitute teacher, and academic support assistant, where I helped students develop organizational skills, study skills, and confidence in their learning.

About the lesson

I like to start with a brief conversation to understand the student’s goals and challenges, then establish a routine. From there, we create a simple plan focused on organization, time management, and academic priorities. I keep sessions structured but relaxed, so students feel comfortable while also making real progress each week.

I’ve worked with a wide range of students, but I especially enjoy supporting high school seniors and college-age students who need help with organization, time management, and adjusting to academic expectations.

Look for someone who helps you feel comfortable but also keeps you accountable. The right support should feel encouraging while also helping you stay organized and consistent.

I recently helped a student who felt behind and stressed with schoolwork. We worked on organizing assignments and creating a simple routine. Seeing them go from overwhelmed to more confident and calm was really rewarding for me.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It helps to pause and reflect on what’s really going on. Some helpful questions to think about are:

• What am I struggling with right now? • Was I focused during class, or did I miss something important? • Do I feel comfortable asking questions during or after the lecture? • Is something around me (like people or distractions) making it hard to focus? • Do I understand the assignment, or do I feel lost on where to start? • How can I ask for help if I’m not sure what I need yet? • Do I need more time, better organization, or a different way of studying?

These questions help students become more aware of their learning habits so we can work together to find simple, realistic solutions.
