About Gillian

Hello! My name is Gillian. I am a soon to be college graduate with a degree in English at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. I am pursuing a concentration in Writing and a minor in World Literatures, as well as in Film Studies. I have also taken education courses, so I am fit to teach your child in any manner that works best for them! I also understand that people learn in different ways and that some are more passionate about English than others. I will do my very best to make the experience as enjoyable as possible while teaching your child why English is so valuable, fun, and interesting. I take a hands-on approach to learning through online video calls, written feedback, and availability at all hour of the day for help! I'm skilled in essay writing, grammar, classic literature, fiction, poetry, and more. I hope to hear from you soon :)

While I am not a certified teacher, I have helped students in the past with difficulties they are experiencing with writing, grammar, and the like.

I am nearly done with a degree in English (writing concentration), as well as minors in World Literatures and Film Studies/Criticism.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I first try and get to know them and what they enjoy doing. I will also ask them what their strong suits are and what they feel they struggle with regarding English. From there, I will develop a method in which your child will benefit from (alongside guardians and the child) according to how they feel they are best taught.

I am happy to work out a price, depending on what my clients can afford. I generally charge about $20 an hour, but if that needs to be adjusted I'm happy to negotiate!
