About Sarah
I am extremely passionate about teaching and educating students. Although I am not a full-time teacher yet, I am enrolled full-time in an Educator Preparation Program, and currently work as a tutor in Worcester State University's Writing Center, in which I work with students to develop and improve their writing skills. I want to work with students to help thm develop the skills they need to succeed. It is important to me that I am helping students to become better at what they're learninf, rather than telling them exactly what to do. I have taken and passed the Communication and Literacy MTEL, which is the first of two exams required to pass in order to teach in Massachusetts. Most recently, I was invited to join Kappa Delta Pi, an Honors Society for Education students. I am also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English Honors Society.
I have wanted to teach as long as I can remember. I got really involved in the field when I started college and begam my educator preparation program in the Fall of 2018.
I am just finishing my junior year at Worcester State University, where I am majoring in English and minoring in Secondary Education. I have taken Education courses over the past three years that have prepared me to be able to teach. I have also taken a tutor preparation course prior to my position as a Writing Tutor.

When working with a new student, my first goal is to have an introductory conversation in which I get to know the student and what they are struggling with. This enables me to be ablet o individualize my instruction to what the student needs.
I have worked with students ranging from middle school to college, and I have worked with students with learning disabilities and special needs as well.
