About Mark
I hold an AA in Journalism, BA Magna Cum Laude in English Literature, and an MA in Professional Writing. I have taught freshman composition at two universities, worked as a newspaper reporter, and have many years of business and technical writing experience.
I find it very rewarding when my students are able to break free from "writing anxiety" and no longer feel that writing is a chore.

I like to start with an understanding of the scope of the tutoring engagement. Are we working to help the student pass a specific class? Working to improve the student's study skills and writing skills in general? All of the above? Then it is important to do some assessments of study skills, learning skills, and writing skills. One very important assessment identifies common writing weaknesses so we can focus on troubleshooting those areas.
