About Korie

I am a Columbus State University student graduating in May. I worked as a tutor at CSU for two years, teaching college algebra and am graduating to become a data statistician in the field of political science. In high school I excelled in both English and math as well. I made a 5 on both the AP Literature and Composition test and AP Statistics test. As a political science major I have had to write many essays and currently have a 3.76 GPA with honors. I have also taken several statistics courses in college (both "Methods of Political Analysis and Social Science Statistics), considering it is my career goal. I have made very high scores in these courses as well. I hope my achievements in these areas place confidence in you about my ability to pass on my knowledge and teach you as my future student!

I got started tutoring while at CSU, as I previously mentioned.

I am in my senior year of Columbus State University and am working towards a degree in Political Science with a certificate in International Studies. Before this, I graduated from Columbus High School Liberal Arts Magnet Program. At CSU, I worked as a tutor for college algebra for two years.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I like to sign a mutual contract that outlines the guidelines and expectations we have going forward. This way we both understand what we would like to accomplish and there is less chance for miscommunication.

I have worked with elementary aged students all the way through dual-enrolled high school students and college students.

I would advice them to reach out and be honest about the help they need. Be as transparent as possible about what your understanding of the material is and how much you are struggling. A teacher or tutor can only help you as much as they know you need help.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are the goals you want to achieve? What is it you want to learn or need help with? You should come prepared with the materials you need to each session so your teacher or tutor can best help you.
