About Kyra

As a future educator, I have a passion for teaching kids. I love learning new things, and I believe it is important for kids to be life-long learners as well.

I have had tons of experience working with kids in different settings. The most work I've done with kids is through horseback riding summer camps. I did not just help with the horses, but I was there to provide an educational and fun experience. Despite the seemingly unrelated area, working with kids in other subjects has helped me learn how kids are able to learn best, and what works well when learning new things.

Through my education classes in college, I've spent time working with kids from a classroom standpoint. This is what I plan on doing with my future, and it is something that I am passionate about.

As I am still in college, I have not started teaching yet; however, that does not diminish my experience. I have worked in non-tradtional settings with kids for many years, ranging from working with kids learning to ride horses to volunteering in church classrooms.

I am currently in college studying Art Education and will graduate in December 2022. Through my courses, I have been learning how to be the best teacher I can be, while also getting some real hands-on experience working with students.

Before attending college, I spent time working with kids through various programs, from summer camps, to therapeutic riding, to nurseries and babysitting.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, the first thing that I do is establish a base relationship. I want to make sure that I know my students and they know me. Once we get to know each other, I can better understand how they learn best.

Through my varied experience, I have worked with toddlers up to middle schoolers, and a bit with high school-aged kids. In addition, I have worked with kids who have disabilities, ranging from ADHD to cerebral palsy.

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and it is okay to get help in those areas you may struggle in. Teachers in school settings each have their own area that they teach. Atheletes have their own sports. Singers have their musical talents. I am very good in English and grammar, but sports do not come as easily to me. Everyone is good in different areas and struggles in others, and that's okay.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When looking for someone to help out in a subject, students should think about what it is they need help with. Looking for a teacher to help you before you know what you need help with can be difficult and frustrating. Think about what areas you excel in and what areas you may struggle with.
