About Nina

Hello, I’m Nina. I offer one-to-one tutoring in English Language Arts to help students gain mastery of reading, writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar for school, work, business, or just for general improvement. I can work with anyone from third grade to adult (university level).

I have a Bachelor of Arts from Westfield State University with a minor in Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I made the Dean's List and was invited to the Phi Alpha Theta honor society. I did my student teaching in local schools, as well as teaching college classes as a TA and teaching English as a Second Language on a volunteer basis.

I’ve spent most of my adult life as an author and editor, doing medical editing and then providing editing services for fiction and nonfiction authors, which takes a comprehensive knowledge of reading, writing and grammar. I also wrote and self-published several novels, one of which is available on Amazon under the pen name Rosemary Cole. My full CV and references are available upon request.

I’m very good with English and I know I can help you or your child to improve. I’m bright, creative and dedicated to helping my students gain confidence and the tools to progress on their own. Being new to this platform, I have no reviews yet, but please give me a try. I’m so convinced you’ll be happy with my service that I’m prepared to offer you a refund. If you’re not happy with my tutoring after the first four lessons, I will refund you half the fees.

I love working with words, and I love helping people. It’s wonderful to be able to do work that brings both together to help students achieve their goals, and to discover for themselves the joys of reading and writing—skills that will help them throughout their entire adult lives.

About the lesson

I charge $20 per hour for English tutoring with a free half-hour consultation before the first lesson so that I can determine the student’s needs. If the student is under 16, a parent or guardian should attend the meeting as well.

Before setting up any lessons, I discuss with the student and/or parent what they are trying to achieve through tutoring and their study goals. If needed, I might do a brief assessment to see what areas they need to improve in to reach their goals. Lastly, I develop a learning program that is tailored precisely to the student’s needs.

My approach to tutoring English is to find ways to make it fun for the student, using techniques to make concepts easy to remember. My goal is to help my students come to enjoy learning, and gain the skills they need to enjoy more effective reading and writing for the rest of their lives.
