About Kevin

I cover three specific areas of Drums and Percussion instruction-

performance, reading, and technique .

I am familiar with many styles and genres of music and am devoted to developing the skills needed to have fun with Drums on any level, from begginers to advanced ages 8 to 80.

I have been playing and teaching drums for 40 years, and am currently enrolled in the Bachelors of Music program at Berklee.

People started asking me for drum lessons when I was in High School .

I have been playing drums for 45 years. I have attended Five Towns College of Music in NY and am currently enrolled in the Bachelors of Music degree program at the Berklee College of Music.

I have taught privately throughout my entire life, including while I was in the United States Marine Corps.

I have taught for the Police Athletic League in Manatee County, Florida

I developed the Percussion program at The Community Music School of Sarasota, Florida

Currently teaching at Music and Arts in Colorado Springs, CO

About the lesson

I like to talk about the student and their goals. I do a assessment of their level of previous training and current abilities of natural rhythm and pacing.

I have worked with all ages and backgrounds of students, and also welcome any student with learning disabilities .

Always keep in mind that although learning and playing drums is certainly lots of fun, it takes a lot of patience and practice to get a good foundation . Pick a teacher who you might feel comfortable staying with for at least a year, possibly longer as a beginner.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try to decide whether the goal is just playing for fun or as a hobby, or is it something more long term like going to a music school or becoming a professional musician 🎶

Lesson pricing is dependent on age and skill level. A half hour is 25$ (typically for younger students) and an hour is 35$.
