About Kathaleen
I've been painting for over thirty years and teaching for ten.
I find great satisfaction in watching a person develop the skills they need to produce a painting they can be proud of. Because I am self-taught, I can relate to a student's early struggles and frustration.
I'm addicted to learning everything I can about painting and after years of acquired knowledge, decided it was time to "pass it forward".
I've been an artist for 30 years and during that time exhibited photography, pastels and oil paintings. I've owned two different art businesses that fostered local talent; Ojai Art Garden in CA and ArtWorks on the Square in Fayetteville, GA.

I ask them to bring in pictures of paintings that they like. That way I can get an idea of the style of painting they would enjoy learning.
I love working with beginners who haven't developed bad habits. I also like the interaction of helping an intermediate student who is pushing themselves to try something new.
Never having been to an art school, I found taking lessons from local artists whose work I admired, to be of tremendous benefit. And it's always amazing how different artists approach a painting.

Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.

She determines your interests first if you're not sure which medium you want to try. E.g. acrylics, oils, watercolors etc. Then her experience takes over as she guides you through the process of painting something more beautiful than you thought possible after only a few lessons. Her love for art is contagious, as she shares stories of her former students who have gone on to become professional artists.
