About Melissa

I work with all ages including adults where there are typically not enough dance classes for adults. I also understand that everyone has to start somewhere so if you are a beginner interested in learning a new skill or a seasoned dancer that is looking for help in training for competition I can help with all of it.

I began teaching out of high school which was with my little ones. From there I got hired at the high school level and have been there ever since. I continue to love dance and want to help those that love it as well. Even those that are just starting out, the work is worth it.

I am a high school dance team coach and have been so for 4 yrs. Before that I began by choreographing for quinceañeras as well as teaching 3,4, and 5 yr olds dance. I have attended dance camps as a dancer as well as a coach to continue my dance knowledge.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I start by having them demonstrate their skill set and then determine where to start from there. Everyone has to start somewhere and no matter the level as long as you're willing to work hard you can accomplish your goals.

I have worked with students from pre-school age all the way to adults. No matter the skill level what is important is the willingness to work and the motivation to achieve your goals.

The best advice would be to just be willing to work. Wanting to be the best and actually doing it are two different things. Understanding how much work it takes and going from there will help you realize what you want to accomplish.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should consider what they want to achieve through dance. Whether it be a new skill set or better knowledge of a skill they already have. They should also question how much work they are willing to put into it seeing as how demanding dance can be.

Details

Lessons are $25 an hour. Lessons involving choreography are $40 an hour which includes cleaning, training, and music.
