About Valerie

Chef Valerie has a passion for food and loves sharing all kinds of food experiences with others. Since early 2009, and with a focus on cooking from whole, natural foods, Chef Valerie's students learn a broad range of dishes and skills. These include midwestern American farm foods, Moroccan, Asian, and Italian dishes, pies, custards, breads, pasta making, and special diet cooking. Students can also experience learning skills and kitchen tools, such as knife skills and how to use electric pressure cookers (such as the Instant Pot) for example. Along with her culinary degree, she is additionally certified by the USDA to teach home canning, both waterbath and pressure canning. Interested in learning more or seeing a schedule of classes? I see food as art and each dish is a creative outlet. Helping people to achieve culinary skills is a joy.

I have a culinary arts degree, a certification from USDA to teach food processing (i.e. home canning).

About the lesson

In our first conversation, I like to assess each person's skill level and actual interest in culinary adventures. I also make sure to cover any food allergies or sensitivities.

Then, we talk about times and schedules... and, of course, topics.

I work with almost all ages. From 6 on up.

Do ask if the class is fully hands on or demonstation. My classes are fully hands on as I want my students to be able to replicate the process.
