About Trevor

I hate to say it.....but in all honesty, most chefs and cooks DO NOT enjoy teaching new things and training people. It's generally considered a "waste" of their "creative genius" lol. I actually grew to love that part the most! I found I had a talent for teaching folks of all different experiences and instilling them with confidence in their skills. I think cooking should be fun and I want you to WANT to get in the kitchen!

I just love local ingredients, cooking and bringing people together over great food and great company. I enjoy cooking with people and teaching them so much, I turned it into a career! I like communicating and collaborating with you about your goals and wants from me in the process. I enjoy seeing you improve and gain confidence in your kitchen abilities.

I got a start on teaching when I secured my first head chef position. It was the first time I lead a team, had to hire people as well as train them. I found I had a knack for teaching and working with people to get the best out of them, so I broke out and started helping restaurteurs hire and train kitchen staff and scaled it up to a full-time gig. I just love helping folks improve their skills and give them confidence!

I have over 20 years of experience cooking in professional kitchens and have a diverse background when it comes to knowledge and skills. I have an education in fine cooking and have been trained by some of countries most innovative and accomplished chefs. I love teaching myself something new just as much as teaching others too.

About the lesson

I am very open to the structure of the lesson you'd like and can work with you to come up with a lesson you're really happy with. I am very easy to communicate with and try my best to respond as quickly as possible. I will bring everything needed for your lessons unless I have a special request from you. I want to you to feel confident and comfortable working with me!

I have worked with all walks of life in this business. From high-schoolers to seniors, male to female, novice to experienced, nice to.....not-so-nice people lol, but I am professional and helpful no matter what the scenario.

I personally believe once you're looking at a pool of very qualified condidates, it's hard to go wrong in practice. However, personality and "fit" can be a big difference in your learning experience and how much you glean from the lesson. Find someone who communicates in a way you like and makes the experience a fun one!

I recently worked with a lady who wanted to surprise her grandmother with her new found pasta making skills (she's Italian in heritage) by taking a few lessons with me and practicing on her own. She now makes awesome pasta that her Nana approves of and couldn't thank me enough for bringing them closer.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- Make sure your teacher has experience in the specific type(s) of lessons you're looking for

- Find out what a lesson with them will cost and what the teaching process looks like

- Does your teacher recommend just one or multiple lessons?

- Looking past knowledge, you should feel totally comfortable and confident in working with your teacher, so make sure they communicate well and treat you right.

- Ask any questions you want to!!

Details

The pricing will depend on the specific skills you're wanting and whether the lessons are individual or group-based. If you're an individual looking for private, one-on-one lessons, I charge approximately $50/hr and I provide all equipment needed. As far as groups go, a rough approximate would be charging $200 to a group of 10 people for 2 hours. (In this scenario, the cost would only be $20 per person!) But again, I can try my best to work with your budget.
