About Joshua

I love helping people understand and grow a passion for computer science. I think it's an incredibly interesting topic that gives a great perspective into the way our world works today.

I have been studying and practicing for about seven years now. I started off by self-teaching Python, and then continued to learn more both practically and theoretically as I completed my degree at Georgia Tech.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, as well a little over two years of work experience as a software developer in various environments.

I started teaching people during college. As I was more familiar with computer science then some of my peers, I would frequently help them with our assignments. As their friends would take these classes and struggle, they would be referred to me, and I would help them understand the concepts so they could do well in the class.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, as well as two years of work experience as a software developer.

About the lesson

First I'd like to get a sense of what they know currently. Based on their knowledge level, I can tailor my explanations and guidance to help them learn with hopefully the least amount of frustration. To me, it's very important that I don't simply figure out the problem for them, but that they come to an understand of the problem themselves.

I've worked mostly with college students, however I have also worked with some high school students.

Don't choose a teacher who will talk down to you for not knowing a 'simple' concept, and don't choose a teacher who simply gives you the answer. That may get you through an assignment, but without the proper understanding, continuing on will be very difficult.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What have I tried, and what concepts don't make sense to me. Specifically fundamental concepts as they tend to be built upon heavily.
