About Jenny

*I am now teaching lessons online via Zoom.* I have been teaching private clarinet lessons for over 15 years, and I am also peformer. I earned my degrees in clarinet performance from Carnegie Mellon University and Northwestern University. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and abilities. Although I do most of my teaching at the Aurora School of Music, I also teach in my home in Richfield, as well as at Stow-Munroe Falls High School and Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. Many of my students are first chair in their school band and participate in youth ensembles like the Cleveland and Akron Youth Orchestras, Contemporary Youth Orchestra, and the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony. Some of my students have also gone on to major in clarinet performance in college.

I had a few students while I was in college, and after I graduated, I began building studios at the Aurora School of Music and at Western Reserve Academy

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University in clarinet performance and a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University in clarinet performance. I have been teaching private clarinet lessons since I was in college, and I have been on the faculty of the Aurora School of Music for over 14 years.

About the lesson

Many of my new students already play the clarinet, so I ask them to play something that they already know for me. That way, I can assess their level and take it from there. For students who are brand new to the clarinet, I start from the top with the goal being to be able to play several notes by the end of the lesson.

I have worked with students as young as the 3rd grade, adults in their retirement years, and every age in between. Some of my students simply need help keeping up with their band class. Some of my students started band several years late and come to me to help them catch up. Some of my students are serious about the clarinet and want help preparing for auditions, from local youth ensembles to college music programs.
