About Breanna

Hi, my name is Bre! From a young age I have had an interest in the sciences. Growing up I would spend my summers going to science camps in which I would take hands-on courses in varying science classes, including forensics, environmental studies and biology.

I have my bachelors degree in biological sciences from Binghamton University and am currently coninuing my education in the health science field. I have knowledge in entry-level and basic biology, health science, anatomy & physiology, microbiology and more!

For two years post-undergrad I was a long-term substitute teacher working in middle schools and high schools. I have a passion for learning as well as sharing and teaching what I know and love!

I started teaching after I graduated college. I was unsure of where I wanted to take my degree in biology. I knew I had a passion for education and decided to begin teaching.

I have my bachelors degree in biological sciences. I have two years of teaching experience with middle and high school levels (ages 11-18). I also have experience with college aged students speaking and educating on health topics.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I typically go over any questions they may have about a topic to start. If they do not have any specific questions, we can go over any work they may have that they are having trouble with or simply review topics they are confused about.

I have worked with students ages 11-18 in middle and highschool as well as college aged students. I have worked with a diverse range of students including students ranging from inner cities to private school. I have worked with students who spoke little English or were learning English as a second language. I have also worked with students who were disabled, including working with autistic children.

The first teacher or tutor you meet, may not be the best fit for you. If you do not understand a teacher or tutor, tell them! After addressing them, if you still are having a hard time understanding their style of teaching, look for a new one! It isn't personal and a good teacher/tutor should understand that. Everyone has a different style of learning, some may be visual learners and others auditory. At the end of the day it is about you and making sure you understand the material fully!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what material you do understand first. Why do you understand it? Was it taught a certain way? Did you study or go over the material a certain way on your own? Think about how you absorb materal best. Do you retain information when you hand write it better than typing it? Does it help if you can see a visual that matches the material? Do you like pictures or charts? Think about how you understand material best to help your teacher/tutor help you the best they can!
