About Kishan

I use personal experiences to give advice on how to succeed in subjects. I have completed many rigerous courses, especially in math and science, and have succeeded to attend medical school.

I have a passion for mentoring/teaching, and would love to help others achieve their goals, especially in education.

I have tutored students of all ages, from elementary to college, and find joy in seeing improvements in their desired subject areas.

In addition to tutoring, I offer advice in college counseling as well as Pre-Med advising. I have graduated from the University of Southern California as of May 2020, and will be attending medical school this Fall 2020.

I hope I can help you in any way that I can!

I received high grades in my courses and would answer questions that my friends or peers had. Soon, I started to tutor for about an hour each week, and loved to see the improvement in my peers' grades.

I am a University of Southern California (USC) graduate as of May 2020. I will be attending medical school this Fall 2020. I have a degree in Biology and have tutored several of my peers in different science courses.

I have tutored elementary, high school, and college students.

To start, I love to get to know my student. I want to understand what they are learning, what they are hoping to get out of my services, and how they think they best learn. Thus, the first session is tailored to understanding my students needs/goals and assessing where they currently stand in regards to the specified subject area.

After the first session, I will set up a study plan that will be emailed to the student and parent (optional) in order to clarify what will be covered each session as well as what should be completed between sessions.

I will attach any documents that will be needed for sessions via email as well.

Feedback will be given after each session as well; this way, the student can refer back to any session at any time.

Elementary, middle school, high school, and college.

I would look for someone who is not only intelligent in the subject area of choice, but someone who is friendly and genuinely cares. I think personal experiences and advice speak volumes, and can translate when it comes to teaching material. It shows that your tutor had also had some sort of struggle, and wants to show you how they were able to succeed in that subject area.

I tutored a peer in Biology after he had recieved an F on his first midterm. It was his senior year, and this was the only course he was failing. He asked me to tutor him, and we set up a day each week to have our sessions. He received a B-, B, and an A on his subsequent exams in that Biology course.

This experinece showed me that I was able to help my friend improve in a subject area that he had no expertise (he was a Computer Science major). It also showed that I was actually able to provide an upward trend for him regarding his grade in his Biology course, bolstering my technique as a tutor.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1) Am I trying my best?

2) Have I already tried to use the Internet to help me UNDERSTAND the topic?

3) Have I took a break and then came back to the same question and still cannot figure out the answer?

These retrospective questions will be crucial in achieving results on your own. Teachers can definitely help to answer your questions, but learning also comes from within. If you've done these things, then ask a teacher. It will show that you care and the teacher will be even more willing to help!
