About FLORENCE

I am a Seasoned Middle School Science and Secondary Biology International Teacher well-versed in utilizing a range of instructional strategies and immersive activities to bring science topics to life for Grade 6 to 10 students. Eager to foster a love of learning and promote development for every student.

As a teacher with 24 years of experience, 10 years International Experience. I have experience of teaching various curriculum like CBSE(India), IBMYP, IGCSE, NGSS.

I make my classroom Learning fun and exciting. In 21st century classroom no one wants to spend time in a classroom where lecturing and note-taking are the norms. I make creative, engaging lessons that grab their attention and allow them to take ownership of the learning process. I incorporate hands-on, kinesthetic learning activities where they can learn by doing. They are enthusiastic about technology-based lessons that are both active and visual. This what I enjoy about the work I do.

About the lesson

Provide Objectives: I explain the objective at the start of the lesson and ask them to discuss in groups of 4’s for 2-3 minutes. At the beginning of each lesson I do a review of the previous day’s objectives. This helps to keep the material that I teach fresh in the students’ minds.

Plan for possibilities:   I have to think about how I can adjust the activity in the moment for my students who need more time and support or experience with concrete materials to understand the concept.

Empower children to document their learning:   I ask my students to have Digital portfolios that are wonderful to keep writing samples, videos and photos. I ask them to review their photos and videos regularly and find out what skills would they like to continue to develop in future.

Enthusiasm : As a teacher I bring enthusiastic enthusiasm and energy to my class room and encourage my students to share the same.

Respectful : I set a respectful tone in my classroom and foster a safe environment where students can express they opinions and have open dialogue on tough topics.

Patience: In today’s environment, patience is a key factor – given the diversity and learning agility as it varies in a given class room. As an educator – identifying the needs is very important and making time for students where needed.

Empathy: As an educator having empathy is very important – as I’ve founds students require an emotional connection with their teacher. We find being compassionate and understanding in a class room is another example of a teachers success. As a teacher being creative with lesson planning is important to engage the student and to mold the lesson in a way where they can retain and react. I’ve also find lab work, activities and research projects gives the student autonomy to have freedom of expression.   to keep students engaged and interested in my Science classroom. I do it using role play, modeling, hands on activity, research project.

Sense of Humor: As a Teacher, I feel having a sense of humor is very important skill. My students feel more engaged when I can take a topic and turn it on its head and take the seriousness of a lesson and lighten it up. My students have always given me feedback that I make them laugh.
