About Calvin

Hi! I'm an MD/PhD student at Rutgers University, and have tutored/taught students in science since high school. My teaching experiences include tutoring in high school and being a teaching assistant for the ODASIS program for under-represented students in the sciences during my undergraduate.

I get to take the ideas and concepts that I teach in order to further our understanding in the biological sciences. Oftentimes people do not enjoy learning about biology because they do not understand how it impacts their everyday life. The program I am in allows me to use what I've learned and taught on a practical level.

Tutor as part of the National Honor Society in high school

Recitation instructor for the Rutgers SEBS Honors Program

Recitation instructor for the Rutgers ODASIS Program in New Brunswick

About the lesson

During the first session, I gauge what the student expects to achieve after the tutoring is complete, as well as what study style the student feels best works for them. Additionally, I will determine what level the student has in the subject, and whether their grasp is at a satisfactory level or not. After that, I will try to tailor the following sessions to be most effective for the student.
