About Adriana

Welcome! I am currently a 4th year medical student at the University of Miami with a Masters in Public Health, Masters of Healthcare Administration, and Masters of Science in Biomedical Science. So you'll be getting science and math tutoring with a will-be doctor who's done it all herself.

My expertise is in the biological sciences and writing, but I tutor all elementary, middle, and high school level science, math, and English courses as well as postsecondary level science, math, and writing. I also have a lot of experience in the advising and editing of college entry essays, law school essays, and medical school application essays.

In 2013 I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in History of Art from Bryn Mawr College where I tutored essay writing, French, Italian, and Spanish.

While I am a multi-subject tutor I also give instructions in strategic organization and learning methods. As I get to know the student I tailor my lesson plans to their needs and learning styles. As a student of many subjects myself, I recognize that some students may need tailoring in some areas to fit their best learning style and environment, this can be done at all ages.

I can't wait to start working together! It's never too early or too late to get a leg-up on your future, whether its in your coursework or your applications. Let's get started!

I love watching students have their "aha!" moments when they really understand the subject and material. Their success is my success and it's always so great to see them exceed their expectations in a particular class or standardized test.

My ultimate goal is to teach students how to study like athletes train: building steadily to their goals of stamina, strength, and skill. It takes time to learn how to learn difficult subjects effectively on your own, but it is always possible no matter your study needs! It is a joy to watch a student get there.

I started teaching in high school when I was a competitive pianist and was asked by a neighbor if I would teach their child basic piano. From there, I fell in love with teaching and moved on to teach other subjects once I entered college.

I have a strong background in tutoring many students since 2009 in a variety of subjects. I also have extensive post graduate training in the sciences and in expository writing.

About the lesson

We begin with a free 30 minute session, unless the student has a time sensitive need, to get to know the student and his/her/their needs. I typically like to create a learning plan depending on the goal and time allotted to completing that goal. I believe there is no such thing as a lazy student! Just students who struggle with one aspect or another with studying or writing, my job is to find where they struggle and help them overcome it.

I have worked with a variety of students. Some students have been on the autistic spectrum, some with ADHD, others who were struggling with more than just school but also financial instability and hardship.

Look for someone who has lots of experience in the sciences and a lot of experience teaching them. Not all smart people make good teachers and not all teachers are right for you! Be willing not to settle for the first person who find if you don't get desired results.

The great thing about people in medicine is that we've done all of the basic sciences up to the college level at minimum and for those people with graduate degrees in science, they also have much more than a basic understanding of the material.

My base price is $75 per hour though I adjust the price up or down depending on a student's needs, the number of hours we standardly work, and a family's financial capabilities. I would always rather tutor a student that needs my help, even if they can only make a certain payment per visit.
