About Zachary

I have been playing the bass guitar for over 10 years in countless bands and organizations across Central Florida. I am etremely passionate about music and teaching and would love to help others find their passion as it relates to music. From beginner strumming techniques, to learning your favorite songs, I hope to make learning music fun and exciting for all of my students.

This is my introduction to teaching bass lessons. I have had so many incredible bass teachers over the years and I am excited to give back to the next generation of rock stars.

I started playing piano as a child and was constantly losing motivation to practice or even attend my lessons. I later realized that it wasn't my distain for music or learning that was making me feel this way. I never was able to learn the songs I wanted, and because of this, I was becoming increasingly unmotivated. This was around the time when my father bought me my first bass guitar. I fell in love and began taking lessons from a neighbor. I soon joined an organization called "School or Rock" where I was able to apply what I learned in a band setting. Joining this organization led me to meeting a handful of talented young musicians that I later formed bands with. I learned how to play music from countless teachers and instructors throughout my life. Over the last couple of years, I have applied what I learned by creating my own music, Playing with live bands around central florida, and now teaching bass lessons!

About the lesson

The first step when starting lessons with a new student is to understand the students skill level and their goals going forward. Its good to set varying goals for a new student. Some of these may be: playing a scale at a faster tempo, learning a challenging song, mastering a new technique, or even creating their own bassline! I enjoy getting to know my students and allowing them to feel comfortable voicing their frustration or indifference to a new peice they may be learning. This along with goal setting will help the students stay motivated and excited about what they're learning.

There are a ton of talented bass teachers out there to chose from. When chosing a teacher it's most important to find someone that you feel comfortable with and enjoy learning from. Staying motivated (especially when starting a new instrument) is the most important thing and having a teacher who is passionate about what they do will help keep you interested and excited about music.
