About Gerry

Seeing the joy on players faces when they see genuine improvement. That happens during every teaching session. I also enjoy hearing from and seeing our players take the skills they've learned with us and used them in game situations for their School, Summer League teams and Travel teams.

We work with any players from first year t-ballers to D-1 College Athletes within Southern Maine. Our staff has over 75 years of playing and coaching experience. Coach Billings has over 33 years of coaching experience spanning from Cal Ripken to High School to American Legion. Coach Billings started coaching in the early 1970s and currently runs The Billings Baseball School in Portland, Maine. He has won championships at every level, but considers teaching the game's skills his greatest strength as a teacher.

I got started teaching the game of Baseball at the age of 14 yrs. old. Our town's Recreation Department ran the Summer Baseball program and hired members of the High School Baseball team to coach. I was hired at 14 and started my Baseball coaching career in the summer of 1972. It was during those summers coaching youth Baseball that I realized that teaching and coaching was what I wanted to do. 



I have coached the game of Baseball for over four decades starting in the early 1970s. I have coached at every level from Cal Ripken to Babe Ruth All-Stars to coaching High School and American Legion programs. I have also worked as a volunteer at the D-3 College level and as an instructor at Ed Flaherty's summer baseball clinics and his overnight Baseball Camp at the University of Southern Maine.

I played four years of High School Baseball (Brunswick HS, Brunswick, ME) and four years of College Baseball at Plymouth State College (Plymouth, NH) where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education. I have coached Varsity Baseball at three different schools, Morse HS, Mt. Ararat HS and Thornton Academy.
