About Kayla

I absolutely love helping people understand things, specifically math and sciences. In school growing up, I almost always had to have a tutor because it took me a little longer to understand topics than other kids my age; I understand what it's like to struggle in a course so I have patience and am here to help the best that I can. I whole-heartedly believe that if you put all your effort in, you can accomplish it. I want to enstill that confidence into people who maybe are struggling with a specific top and see them overcome it.

I have my bachelor's degree in Biology and Neuroscience. Through completing these two science degrees I had to take many other courses which has provided a solid foundation that I was able to build upon.

While an undergrad, I was a chemistry TA and taught chemistry labs as well as chemistry recitations where we would do practice problems and go over lecture topics. I was able to work with the chemistry department for 2.5 years.

I was also able to build on my biology and neuroscience knowledge through independent research in a biology lab. Specifically, on my first project I studied how inhibiting histone deacetylase complexes affected cell proliferation, apoptosis, etc. My second project I studied the relationship between retinal gliosis and the family of AMOT proteins. Through my research, I was able to actually get hands on experience in applying what I had learned over my college career. It is a much different understanding when you've actually seen these key concepts first hand rather than reading about them in a textbook.

My degrees are in biology and neuroscience.

To complete my degrees, I had to take an immense amount of science classes such as: biology 101 (similar to AP bio), biolgogy 201, genetics, cell biology, ecology, evolution, chemistry 101, chemistry 201, biochemistry, organic chemistry 101, organic chemistry 201 (similar to AP chem), physics 101 (similar to AP physics), physics 201, etc.

I like to get to know the student. Through that process you're able to see how the student learns best. Once that relationship has been established, we can start conquering course material.
