About Julia
A versataile tutor with experince in a very wide variety of subjects. Whether it be for basic help, improving your skills, or a curious mind, I am the tutor for you!
I have been tutoring in over 10 different subjects since 2016. I have a personalized approach to teaching that involves identifying problem areas, and working with the student to build confidence, and achieve their goals. I also have a diverse backround in college coursework while completing my degree in Economics and Premedical Science. I have studying everything from botany to architecture to film studies.
In May of 2022, I was awarded the Student Service Award by Miami University for my extensive work in college level chemistry tutoring.
I love working with students and watching them grow both in confidence and knowledge. I also really enjoy working students through problems and developing skills such as problem solving and time management.
I have over 6 years tutoring and have logged over 500 hours. I have extensive coursework in a variety of subjects at the college level, and also with tutoring in areas where I have completed coursework. I have researched general test taking methods. I am knowledgable in both ACT and MCAT prep, and personally scored highly on both tests.
I research and learn new styles of teaching, and tips for student learning in order to develop the best techniques for learning

I do an initial evaluation about what they are looking to learn as well as their learning style. I also use this initial evaluation to look for problem areas for the student, and what adjustments I need to make to maxamize student learning ability.
After this, I set up a schedule and plan address tutoring needs, with check-in points periodicly.
I have worked with students of all age groups, with a focus on high school students and college students. I have also branched out to develop new techniques in working with middle school age students.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If possible, the best thing a student can do before talking to teachers about their needs is to create a rough list of things you do well, and things you struggle with. The list can be short. Additonally, bring graded assignments that students want to improve on is a great way to identify root causes, and to better address the learning needs of the student.
Lastly, if possible, coming in knowing your learning style can really speed up the process. This is not essential, but can be incredibely helpful in developing a plan of action that complements the students way of learning.

Julia was my tutor for Chemistry and Biology. She is very knowledgable in both fields of study. She was always very patient with me and made sure I fully understood the topic before moving on to the next.
