About Jacob

I offer personalized Math and Social Studies tutoring to Elementary, Middle, and High School students. I am a certified Social Studies Teacher and am in Grad School at Eastern Michigan University working towards my Master's in Special Education. I have experience working with all grade levels thanks to years of substitute teaching.

I loved being in school and I loved explaining things to people, so teaching was my natural career choice. To this day one of the best feelings I ever get is seeing that lightbulb light up in a students eyes.

I am a trained and certified Social Studies teacher and have experience teaching math in Special Education classes while filling in during substitute teaching. I am working towards my certification to work with students with learning disabilities so I am comfortable working with students of all skill levels.

About the lesson

First I have to get a base for where the student is at in their learning. With math concepts I reinforce what the student already knows and I ensure that they are caught up. Once I know their baseline I can begin to add in more difficult concepts while still practicing and developing older skills.

I have worked with students ages 5-26 during my teaching career, with most of them falling in the 5th-12th grade level. Most of the classes I have worked with have students with disabilities.

Find the teacher that is going to get creative and challenge you. Find the teacher who isn't going to just sit there and tell you things off of a bullet list. Find the teacher who is going to help you not just learn, but become a better student and even a better person.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
"Is there a way that I can work through this by myself?" There should never be any shame in asking for help, but the goal is for each student to try and problem-solve by themselves first.
