About Amelia

I began teaching twelve years ago in the Washington D.C. area at one of the most renowned children's theaters in the nation, Imagination Stage. I have worked with students of all ages and later began my work with adults through my private practice.

B.A. in Performance, Fordham University, Lincoln Center

M.F.A. in Acting, American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University.

H.S. Diploma, Ballet Major, University of North Carolina School of the Arts

About the lesson

My typical process when working with a new student is to discuss the goals you wish to accomplish during our lesson/s. We will also chat about your past experience within the given discipline (acting or ballet) and get to know one another!

I teach beginners as well as actors have spent years training in their discipline. I have also worked with several LGBT youth.

Some advice I would give to a student looking to hire me would be the following:

I would like to know which goals you wish to accomplish during our time together (it can be as simple as 'I want to see if I like acting' to 'I have an important audition!')

Be prepared for your lesson (do you need to have your lines memorized?, do you have pieces in front of you?, and please be on time).

A recent event I am fond of was attending my nephew's baseball tournament in Delaware this past July. I was able to spend time with my family and be a supportive auntie. :)

Some questions students should think through before talking to me about their needs are:

Why do I want to take lessons in this discipline? What interests me about it? Where do I want to with it? (it's also okay if you don't know the answer to this last one).
