About Lauren

This is a course taught solely by myself in which I teach participants how to better their acting and performing skills (my specialty is theatre, but basic acting principles can be applied to film as well). We will do cold readings and character building games that encourage creativity, individuality, and a passion for theatre. I have been performing for about ten years, as well as having directed a bit too. Theatre is the first thing I fell in love with and I want to share my passion with others.

I love theatre and acting so, so much and I love introducing it to others. Sometimes it just isn't someone's thing, but if I can make someone else fall in love with it the way I did, that would be a great honor.

I have about ten years of experience performing in plays and musicals, from community theatre to school assignments to short skits. I have taken acting classes myself, and have been a teaching assistant at the Aurora Theatre summer camps.

About the lesson

Jump right in! The best way to learn theatre is to learn together. Group interaction and participation is crucial in performing arts, which is why most activities will be group based if possible.

Really just think about what you would like to learn and how a teacher could help with it. For example, if you would like to focus on improving your improv skills, there may be a better teacher than me suited for you. The activities we will do can include improv, but it is not my teaching expertise. If, however, you are looking for tips to better the quality of your acting, my class will be great for you.

Yes, all lessons will be the same length (1 hour or a little less), and will be a one time fee of $30 per student. The number of classes in the course is to be decided.
