About Anthony

Hi, I’m Anthony! I’m an experienced workplace trainer with a strong interest in mathematics and a genuine enjoyment of helping others learn.

Through my experience training others, I’ve learned that everyone picks up new concepts differently. I try to be patient, approachable, and encouraging while allowing students to work through challenges themselves. I want students to feel comfortable telling me when something doesn’t make sense, asking questions, and even making mistakes. We can use those moments to figure out what needs more explanation.

Mathematics has been one of my strongest subjects, and I especially enjoy the problem-solving and reasoning behind algebra. What I find most rewarding, though, is seeing the moment when something begins to click for someone, and they can start working through problems independently.

I’m continuing my own education in mathematics as well, so I understand what it’s like to be a student learning challenging material. My goal as a tutor is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students can strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and become more independent learners.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is focused on helping students understand why something works rather than simply showing them how to get the correct answer. I typically start by explaining and demonstrating a concept, then work through a problem together with the student. As they become more comfortable, I step back and have them take the lead, explain their reasoning, and ask questions whenever they get stuck.

A typical lesson would begin by identifying what the student is currently learning and where they are having difficulty. We would review the concept together, work through examples, and then transition into guided and independent practice. For more challenging problems, especially word problems, I like to ask questions and provide hints that encourage students to find the next step themselves, instead of immediately giving them the solution.

What sets me apart is my experience as a trainer and my emphasis on confidence and reflection. I enjoy teaching people new skills, and I believe being able to explain something back is one of the best ways to determine whether someone truly understands it. Mistakes are welcome during my lessons! They allow us to figure out where something stopped making sense and work from there.

My lessons are best suited for middle and high school students who need help with Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and foundational math skills, including solving equations, isolating variables, and working through word problems. I especially welcome students who feel stuck or lack confidence in math and want someone patient who will work through it with them.
